The Verywell Mind Podcast: A New Chapter with Amy Morin, Editor-in-Chief

My journey toward mental resilience and strength has been a winding path. Since 2013, I've had the privilege of sharing my journey through books, lectures, and various platforms. Although these mediums have been effective, I've always desired a more personal and interactive way to connect with people seeking mental well-being. And I finally found it in podcasting.

In the fall of 2020, I embarked on this podcasting adventure with the Mentally Strong People podcast. Over 53 incredible episodes, we've been blessed to host extraordinary guests who have graciously shared their expertise, insights, and inspiring journeys. Our audience has also played a vital role in providing feedback and suggestions for future guests and topics.

Now, I'm thrilled to announce a new era for the podcast: it's officially becoming The Verywell Mind Podcast!

The mission of The Verywell Mind Podcast is to empower individuals in prioritizing their mental health and cultivating a more balanced and fulfilling life. My connection with Verywell dates back to 2012 when I started as a freelance writer. Throughout the years, I've witnessed the company's growth through various transitions, and they've been a constant source of support throughout my career journey.

From being a full-time therapist writing part-time articles to becoming a full-fledged author and speaker, Verywell has been an unwavering supporter. Last fall, the Verywell team approached me with an opportunity to become the Editor-in-Chief of Verywell Mind, a challenge I enthusiastically accepted. This new role not only expands my involvement within the company but also presents an exciting opportunity to collaborate on the podcast.

I believe that this partnership will amplify our reach and impact in promoting mental well-being and nurturing mental strength.

What to Expect

While the podcast will have a fresh name and look, the core of the content will largely remain the same. I'll continue to host the show, delivering thought-provoking episodes designed to help you navigate life's challenges with resilience and optimism.

Every Monday, you can expect an in-depth interview with an inspiring guest. We'll dive into their personal stories, struggles, and the strategies they've employed to cultivate mental strength.

Some notable past guests include:

  • John Elder Robison, author of "Look Me in the Eye" and "Switched On"
  • Dr. Kristin Neff, pioneer in the field of self-compassion research
  • Dr. Steven Southwick, PTSD expert, and author of "Resilience: The Science of Mastering Life's Greatest Challenges"

Upcoming guests include:

  • Kendall Toole, Peloton instructor, and founder of The Happy Place
  • Melissa Bernstein, co-founder of Melissa & Doug Toys
  • Mike Bayer, life coach, and bestselling author of "Best Self: Be You, Only Better"
  • Jamie Kern Lima, founder of IT Cosmetics, and author of "Believe It: My Journey of Success, Healing, and the Power of Belief"

Each interview will conclude with the "Therapist's Take" segment, where I'll break down the guest's mental strength strategies and provide practical advice on how you can integrate these techniques into your own life.

Every Friday, you'll receive a "Friday Fix" episode. These brief episodes (typically under 10 minutes) will offer quick tips for addressing common mental health challenges, such as managing overthinking or practicing effective relaxation techniques. I'll also share real-life case studies from my therapy practice, illustrating how these strategies can be applied in everyday situations.
